SHOPPING ESSENTIALS complaint

shopping essentials unauthorized billing

Shopping Essentials is a scam that attaches to other purchases. If you do not actively cancel they will charge your credit card indefinitely!

I purchased Clever Clasp from an Infomercial. It was $9.95. By the time Shopping Essentials got done, I had paid over $200.

They charged me $16.95 a month for a year. My husband pays the bills so he did not notice anything unusual.

My credit card was lost and when no charges showed up except for Shopping Essentials, we recognized a problem.

On your credit card, it will look like this SHOPPINGESSEN 800-962-0335 CT.

They charged me for $19.95, but I keep a close eye on my account, so I reported fraud the day it was billed, shut down my account and card. The only thing I've done different is sign up for Classmates.com, never again!!!!

:? :( I just realized that I have had a charge of $9.95 on my CC for the past year. I saw it before, but thought it was something that I ordered online. Some small companies come up with different names (i.e. stands at the mall, etc). I don't know it it has been going on longer but I am definitely going to call during business hours and complain. I don't ever remember signing up for a free trial of anything. I never sign up for free trials because I know I will forget to cancel them. I am definitely going to threaten to speak with a lawyer if they don't refund my money. That's a scam! I am so frustrated right now!

Yep. Same shiet different bag. I was charged 14.95 for 10 months since September of 07 through July 08. I thought it was some type of subscription for my mother but when I asked her about it, she had no clue about what I was talking about.

I moved on to call them and asked how the membership was applied. The phone rep kept repeating the same line: I can't give you that information as I might lose my job.

Double - U - T - F. The membership was also supposedly under my mothers name - and even though it was me getting billed for it, they refused to disclose any information to me.

I had to stay on the phone for about an hour (my lunch break) to get a supervisor on the line. Her name was Shannon/Sharon and I demanded a refund for the 10 months of unsolicited transactions.

She told me she refunded me, I got a confirmation number and was told the credit will be refunded in a number of business days (about a week).

So if you have shoppingessen on your billing statement, and you have NOCLUE about whats going on, give them a call and ask for Sharon/Shanon the supervisor.

If I don't see any credit within a week you'll see me posting another comment ^^

I hope everybody got their money back.

One last note: Imagine their jobs yeah? People must call them with WTF written all over their attitudes.

Question for people with multiple charges.. has anyone had any luck getting refunded by shopping essentials? They would only refund 1 month for me. I find it ironic that they never send you any confirmation by email or postal mail, but when you call and cancel you get an email from them. Such BS!

I just got the $14.95 charge on my debit card as well. Called the 800 number: 800-962-0335, gave them the credit card it was charged to, and they cancelled my account, very easy. I do remember accidentally clicking a box during checkout at restaurant.com. Called and spoke with Russ, employee number 19605. I will just be sure to read what I am clicking! And I remember doing it, and thinking, crap I didn't mean to do that. Anyway, just call, it's easy. Russ said they mailed me coupons, but I never did receive, told him I don't shop much and don't need the membership. We will see next month if I have any charges...

Just found the same thing with my CC. What we all can do is write a detailed (but not long) letter to your state Attorney General's office and that og the Connecticut AG's office. Make sure you copy both offices to let them know who all is getting this letter. I'm going to include this web address as well. But it won't work unless we all write the letters.

I noticed the same type of transaction for Shopping Essentials in the amount of $9.95 for 3 consecutive months. I just closed my credit card account and am having the credit card company complete a fraud investigation. I have no idea how this company ever got my credit card information.
