After going onto the
Classmates.com website, I received a charge from Shopping Essentials on my credit card for $19.95. Apparently, when
Classmates.com offered a $10 rebate, they somehow wrangled this into giving my
credit card information to Shopping Essentials. I called Shopping Essentials to dispute the charge and they easily canceled my "membership", which I never wanted. However, very under her breath, the operator quickly said something about enjoying membership benefits for a month. As I said, I barely heard this but realized she was talking about KEEPING the $19.95! Sheez! I told her I would be disputing this charge and she rattled off the information that they would refund this within two days. It was completely obvious that this company hopes that people don't check their
credit card statements. Bet they make a
mint!
This needs to be stopped. I will not deal with
Classmates.com any more and, form what I read on the internet, Shopping Essentials also does the same scam through Restaurants.com, so they are off the list, too!
